The Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) says it is yet to access funding from international donors on Coronavirus (COVID19) preparedness in the country and that all expenditures on it are domestically funded.
Mr. Abdulaziz Mashi Abdulaziz, Permanent Secretary, FMOH, said this while the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, was giving an update on the disease in the country, on Friday in Abuja.
News of Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that IMF is making available about 50 billion dollars through its rapid-disbursing emergency financing facilities for low income and emerging market countries that could potentially seek support.
Ten billion dollars of the amount is available at zero interest for the poorest members through the Rapid Credit Facility.
The World Bank Group President David Malpass also announced an initial package of up to 12 billion dollars in immediate support for countries coping with COVID-19.
The package will include emergency financing, policy advice, and technical assistance.
Abdullaiziz, said: “it is just the domestic funding that we have.
“The one that was announced by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group, are interventions made by the two institutions.
“But guidelines and framework of accessing the money are still yet to be developed.
“I believe the country representatives in various countries where the disease manifested will be getting in touching with them to see how we can access it, but for now I think it is strictly domestic funding the country is accessing.”
Abdulaziz disclosed that some donors and partners met with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), to see how they could support detection and response to the disease.
Five Players Chelsea Should Sign This Transfer Window
Chelsea are back in the market for new players after their transfer ban was lifted by CAS. The Blues were banned for two windows by FIFA, one which they already served in the Summer, but CAS decision to reduce the ban to one window, means the Blues are now free to conduct business in January.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard had to call on youth players such as Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Reece Jame, Taric Lamptey, and they haven’t disappointed so far.
But, despite his young side showing potential, the Blues’ boss is keen to add some star-quality, as they compete for the top four, FA Cup and Champions League in the new year.
With that in mind, Soccernet Nigeria takes a look at five players Chelsea should consider this transfer window.
TIMO WERNER (RB Leipzig)
The German international has played a key role in RasenBallsport Leipzig’s success in the Bundesliga this season. They are currently top of the log ahead of reigning champions, Bayern Munich, and have also qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.
Much of Leipzig success this campaign is down to the goalscoring prowess of Timo Werner. The Germany international has scored 23 goals in 25 games for Die Roten Bullen this season. Timo Werner is certainly one player Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard should go all out for this January.
Werner is out of contract next summer, which means Chelsea could get him on the cheap if Leipzig decides to cash in rather than lose him on a free.
WILFRED ZAHA (Crystal Palace)
A possible replacement for Pedro and Willian if they leave Chelsea this summer, Crystal Palace midfielder, Wilfred Zaha has distinguished himself as an all-action player blessed with pace, trickery, and ability to score goals at will.
Although the Ivorian international has had a fairly quiet start to the season, with three goals and three assists through 21 games in the Premier League, the 27-year-old’s overall record is excellent.
The former Manchester United winger could also help Chelsea fil the void of Eden Hazard who left for Real Madrid in the summer.
JADON SANCHO (Borussia Dortmund)
The England youngster has taken the Bundesliga by storm since his arrival from Manchester City in 2017. Jadon Sancho is attracting interest from Europe’s top sides following his performances for Dortmund.
Sancho would likely cost Chelsea’s a large percentage of their transfer kitty, but it would be a good business in the long term. Still only 19, Sancho could become part of an exciting trio of young wingers, along with Callum Hudson-Odoi and former Dortmund team-mate Christian Pulisic.
Sancho has 9 goals in 15 appearances for Dortmund this ongoing season and has already played 11 times for England, scoring twice.
BEN CHILWELL (Leicester City)
With Emerson or Marcos Alonso struggling in their roles, Chilwell could be the man to solve the Blues left-back issue. The England international is one of Foxes best players in an incredible season and will be a great addition to Lampard’s side.
Chilwell is now England’s first-choice left-back, and Lampard could be tempted to add him to an already England-heavy squad.
However, Lampard may find it difficult to bring the Leicester City man to Stamford Bridge, because City manager, Brendan Rodgers would be determined to keep one of his best players.
HAKIM ZIYECH (AJAX)
After facing Ajax in the Champions League group stages this campaign, Chelsea have seen the incredible skills of Hakim Ziyech. The Moroccan international could be another option to help the Blues creatively and compared to Sancho, the 26-year-old would be a much affordable option for the side.
This season, Ziyech has already managed an astonishing 13 league assists with Ajax, as well as netting six league goals. The creative skill Ziyech possesses would undoubtedly be a great asset to Chelsea.
Bovi has slammed a Twitter influencer who didn’t get a joke he made about Tacha’s fans being responsible for his unsuccessful visa application.
It all began after comedian Bovi was asked what he would do if he wakes up as the President of Nigeria and he joked that he would “declare Marlians and Titans as terrorist organization.”
Marlians are fans of Naira Marley and Titans are fans of Big Brother Naija reality star Tacha.
After Bovi’s joke, he returned to Twitter to make another joke about his visa application being rejected and he blamed Titans for it.
He tweeted: “The US embassy rejected my visa application this morning. These Titans are everywhere!”
A Twitter influencer, who is also a fan of Tacha, responded and asked Bovi what Titans have got to do with his unsuccessful visa application. He went on to accuse Bovi of seeking attention with Tacha’s name.
And Bovi slammed him, writing: “You have tunnel vision. That’s why a joke must be explained to you bit by bit. When they say “no leave no transfer”, your colorless life won’t still get the joke in that tweet.”

Is Sergio Aguero now the finest international goalscorer to ever grace the English Premier League? The Manchester City goal machine scored a hat-trick against Aston Villa, Sunday, to eclipse Thierry Henry as the division’s top international goalscorer.Aguero, from Argentina, now has an incredible 177 goals, two more than French Arsenal legend Henry and 33 more than Dutchman Robin van Persie.
The hat-trick at Villa Park was Aguero’s 12th in the Premier League, which also surpassed Alan Shearer’s previous hat-trick record.Aguero left the pitch with a big smile on his face and the match ball under his arm, a memento of his record hat-trick.”I want to keep on scoring,” Aguero told broadcaster Sky Sports. “So I keep focused every game.”Since its inception the Premier League has introduced foreign talent to English shores, and surely Aguero now ranks among the best of them.
The 31-year-old joined Manchester City in 2011 from Spanish club Atletico Madrid and quickly established himself as a major talent, and a powerful goal-poacher.”He’s one of the most incredible players I’ve seen in this league,” Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said.”He’s an incredible person. He has to be always fit. He loves to play football and in the final third he is the guy who has the goal in his head.”
Manchester City may be lagging behind Liverpool in the defense of their title — the champions are now 14 points adrift in second — but it was a ruthless 6-1 victory at Villa Park which saw the home side drop into the relegation zone.Riyad Mahrez set City on their way with a brilliant individual goal on 17 minutes, weaving past two defenders before lashing the ball into the net.Just six minutes later, Mahrez added a second when he found the ball at his feet after some messy defending from Villa.Kevin De Bruyne was at the heart of City’s final two first-half goals as he first set up Aguero and then Gabriel Jesus. Aguero unleashed a stunning strike into the top corner before Jesus slotted home De Bruyne’s perfect-pitched pass. The relentless forward momentum from the champions continued after the break when Aguero was on the mark again, sliding home David Silva’s pass before he added a third in the 80th minute.
Mahrez also paid tribute to his teammate Aguero, saying: “The statistics speak for itself. He’s a legend for this club and for the Premier League.”He shows it weeks in and week out. He has a lot of quality but he doesn’t need a lot of chances to score and this shows what a big striker he is.”

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
